Are singlespeeds faster? For me, the answer is a resounding YES! I have alway raced and ridden better without gears. How about you?

I train on my singlespeed, and it has definately made me a faster rider. When the easy way out, by shifting, on a tough climb is taken away, you have to get stronger. I think that I will race singlespeed next year.
I know that Im still faster on my geared bike, but I have a lot more fun on my SS. Thats what keeps me on it
